Softball Recap: Fruitdale Comes Up Short

If Fruitdale was riding high fresh off their 23-4 takedown of Clarke County on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates came up short against the Washington County Bulldogs on Friday, falling 8-2. The Pirates have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Riley Savage made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison Sullivan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Fruitdale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Washington County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4.

Coming up, Fruitdale will welcome Southern Choctaw at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Washington County, they will be playing at home against Clarke County at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
