Baseball Recap: Bluffton Beats Jefferson for Their Fourth Straight Win

While Bluffton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Jefferson Wildcats on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Quinn Eachus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bluffton is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Blayne Hill was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke Jebsen, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Bluffton pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bluffton will venture away from home to face off against Miller City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Jefferson, they will head out to square off against Allen East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
