League recap: Danville stuns Johnstown-Monroe in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Johnstown-Monroe, who took down 181st ranked Johnstown-Monroe, 42-35.

Danville extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Buckeye this week by beating the Johnnies, 42-35. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Blue Devils.

Johnstown-Monroe's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Thompson threw for 58 yards and Cody Farley had 29 yards receiving. On the ground Thompson chipped in 193 yards. Corbin Grassman helped Johnstown-Monroe's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.

Northridge's Bryant Garee and Chase Hess have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Garee has thrown for 445 yards this season, while Hess, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 18 catches for 262 yards. Michael Carter's team's Farley leads the league in rushing yards with 1022.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Johnnies take on East Knox. Johnstown-Monroe is currently in third, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.

Loudonville moved up to 222 from 254 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mid-Buckeye. The Redbirds were able to make the jump by beating East Knox 33-27.
