Softball Recap: Canton Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Canton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 16-11 to the Sayre Redskins on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Jaylee Ward made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Addi Pepper was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bucktail at 4:30 p.m. on March 28th. As for Sayre, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Williamson at 4:30 p.m. on March 25th.
