Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Trojans vs. Mt. Zion Braves

Charleston is 2-8 against Mt. Zion since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Charleston Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Zion Braves at 7:00 p.m. Charleston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Charleston made off with a 57-56 win over Effingham.

Meanwhile, Mt. Zion was able to grind out a solid victory over Jacksonville on Saturday, taking the game 71-61. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Crimsons are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charleston's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Mt. Zion, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.

Charleston ended up a good deal behind Mt. Zion when the teams last played back in January, losing 74-56. Can Charleston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
