Ledyard is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to take on the Windham Whippets at 4:00 p.m. Ledyard will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Ledyard is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Plainfield on Monday as they made off with a 16-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Calvin Casavant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Casavant was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Tyler Spinner looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Ledyard got a massive performance out of Carson Luther, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashton Wuestner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Ledyard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Windham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Wheeler.
Ledyard's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Windham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Ledyard came up short against Windham in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-5. Can the Colonels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
