Preview: Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts vs. Brimmer & May Gators
Marie Philip and Brimmer & May are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts on the road again on Friday and play against the Brimmer & May Gators at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Marie Philip focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Marie Philip earned a 56-44 victory over American School for the Deaf. Marie Philip pushed the score to 47-21 by the end of the third, a deficit American School for the Deaf cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Xavier DeLeon, who almost dropped a triple-double on 34 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. DeLeon is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dominick Scanzillo, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Brimmer & May suffered a rough 70-48 defeat at the hands of Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall on January 10th. Brimmer & May has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marie Philip's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Brimmer & May, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
Marie Philip lost to Brimmer & May on the road by a decisive 74-58 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Marie Philip avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
