Baseball Game Preview: Newaygo Lions vs. Grant Tigers

For the second straight game, Newaygo will face off against Grant. The Lions will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Newaygo faced off against Grant on Monday. The Lions fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. The Lions have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

For Grant's part, Austin Tyers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Tyers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grant's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Kiliszewski, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Kiliszewski has hit this season.

Grant's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Newaygo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
