Basketball Game Preview: Shishmaref Northern Lights vs. Shaktoolik Wolverines

Shishmaref hasn't had much luck against Shaktoolik recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Shishmaref Northern Lights will get right back to it and host the Shaktoolik Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Shishmaref sitting on five straight victories and Shaktoolik on 12.

On Wednesday, Shishmaref beat Brevig Mission 60-48.

Shishmaref found their leader in freshman Elizabeth Kokeok, who posted 18 points. Kokeok's big performance that afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Loretta Sinnok was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Shaktoolik took their match two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 76-27 win over James C Isabell. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 30 points or more this season.

Shishmaref's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Shaktoolik, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.

Shishmaref was dealt a bruising 78-46 defeat at the hands of Shaktoolik in their previous meeting back in January. Can Shishmaref avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
