Preview: Empire Ravens vs. Walden Grove Red Wolves

After four games on the road, Empire is heading back home. They will take on the Walden Grove Red Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Empire will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Empire scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They came out on top against Benson by a score of 13-10. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

Micah Tiggas was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Savage, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Walden Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Rio Rico by a score of 8-6.

AJ Escarcega was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Sexton, who went 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Empire's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Walden Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Empire was able to grind out a solid victory over Walden Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 4-1. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Walden Grove's Owen Kramkowski, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk).
