Baseball Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Diboll Lumberjacks

Newton hasn't had much luck against Diboll recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. Newton has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Newton lost 26-11 to Woodville. Newton just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.

Bebo Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season. Camden Will was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Diboll unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Central Heights, falling 20-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lumberjacks have suffered since March 8th.

Diboll's loss dropped their record down to 17-6-1. As for Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Newton suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Diboll when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
