Basketball Recap: Hondo Skates Past Dilley with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Hondo over Dilley in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Hondo Owls blew the Dilley Wolves out of the water with a 68-36 final score. That 32 point margin sets a new team best for the Owls this season.

Dilley's loss came despite strong showings from Isaiah Kinsey and Angel Martinez. Kinsey posted ten points, while Martinez had ten points along with seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in points. Elijah Sambrano was another key player, putting up seven points.

Hondo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Dilley, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hondo has already played their next game, a 64-58 victory against Poteet on the 20th. As for Dilley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 93-44 defeat against Crystal City on the 20th.
