Football Game Preview: Highland Springs Springers vs. Phoebus Phantoms

The Highland Springs Springers will venture away from home to face off against the Phoebus Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Phoebus took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Highland Springs, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Highland Springs made easy work of South County and carried off a 35-14 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Springers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Stallions are ranked 57th).

Highland Springs found their leader in sophomore Devlin Davis, who rushed for 67 yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, Phoebus lost to Warwick on the road by a 34-20 margin on Saturday. The loss put an end to the Phantoms' undefeated start to the season.

The win got Highland Springs back to even at 2-2. As for Phoebus, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

Things could have been worse for Highland Springs, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 23-7 loss to Phoebus when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Springers, Davion Roberts (who rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
