Soccer Game Preview: Green Forest vs. Dardanelle

The Green Forest Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Dardanelle Sand Lizards at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Green Forest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arkansas' top teams: Morrilton, who was ranked 16th at the time (Green Forest was ranked ninth). The Tigers never let the Devil Dogs get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for Green Forest as they're now sitting on four straight.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dardanelle). They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Huntsville on Tuesday. Give Dardanelle's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Dardanelle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six contests. As for Green Forest, their win bumped their record up to 9-1-1.

Green Forest skirted past Dardanelle 2-1 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
