Hidden Valley put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cottage Grove Lions a 5-0 shutout. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered an 8-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Scarlett Gordon made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Aubree Schmidt was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Harley Hipps also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Hidden Valley pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Cottage Grove, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Hidden Valley is headed away from home for the first time to take on Mazama at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hidden Valley 3, Mazama 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cottage Grove, they will host Creswell at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
