Volleyball Recap: Franklin Beats Newton South for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Franklin waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Newton South Lions as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Franklin won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-14, 25-23.

Makayla Kuykendall paced Franklin's offense, picking up nine kills. Kuykendall got some help from Phoebe O'Connor and her 21 assists. Gianna Laurello controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Franklin's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Newton South, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will host Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newton South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
