Hockaday had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Grapevine Mustangs 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Daisies as they're now sitting on 12 straight dating back to last season.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hockaday who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-10.
Mila Haffar paced Hockaday's offense, picking up 15 kills. Haffar got some help from Ai-Vy Ho and her 24 assists. Ho was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.
Hockaday has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Highland Park on the 14th. As for Grapevine, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Giddings on the 14th.
