Byron waltzed into their match on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Winona Winhawks a 3-0 shutout. The three-run effort marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Tallie Behrens made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaydence Fjerstad was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Leeah Strain also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Byron lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Byron's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Winona, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Byron will host Stewartville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winona, they will be playing at home against St. Charles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
