Softball Game Preview: Warwick Raiders vs. Woodside Wolverines

For the second straight game, Warwick will face off against Woodside. The Raiders will face off against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Warwick has five straight victories, Woodside has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Warwick and Woodside, and Warwick kept the tradition alive. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over the Wolverines on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Nataleigh Gabriel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Warwick let Althenia Seisay and Jaylynn Parish run wild. Seisay went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Parish got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Seisay a new career-high. Miya'E Holloman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Warwick's record now sits at 5-8. As for Woodside, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
