Basketball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

After flying high against Clarkdale last Saturday, Union came back down to earth. The Union Yellowjackets came up short against the Choctaw County Chargers on Tuesday, falling 59-37.

Loss or not, Union got some senior leadership from Rymia Craft and Destiny Campbell. Craft went 5 for 7 on her way to 11 points and eight rebounds, while Campbell went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and three steals. The contest was Campbell's third in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Union was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 0 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 7.3.

Union has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Choctaw County, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Union will face off against Sebastopol at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Choctaw County, they will venture away from home to square off against West Lowndes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
