Basketball Recap: Elk Lake Skates Past Forest City with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elk Lake). They claimed a resounding 71-31 win over the Forest City Foresters. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Foresters are ranked 447th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory (which was Elk Lake's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Forest City, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Elk Lake will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carbondale Area at 6:45 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Forest City, they will be taking part in a tournament against Riverside at 7:45 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Riverside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
