Softball Game Preview: Westlake Chaparrals vs. Bowie Bulldogs

Westlake is 2-8 against Bowie since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chaparrals will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Westlake will be strutting in after a win while Bowie will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Westlake needed a bit of extra time to put away Austin. They won by a run and slipped past the Maroons 8-7. The Chaparrals haven't had any issues with the Maroons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Bowie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Dripping Springs.

Kate Bookidis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bowie saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Walker, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Westlake now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Bowie, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Westlake might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Bowie in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Chaparrals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
