Softball Game Preview: Molokai Farmers vs. Lanai Pine Lads

For the second straight game, Molokai will face off against Lanai. Molokai is taking a road trip to square off against Lanai at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Molokai is leaving town to face Lanai after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Molokai came up short against Lanai on Friday, falling 28-20. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Farmers have suffered against the Pine Lads since April 7, 2023.

For Lanai's part, Malia George and Mahealani Esteban did most of the damage at the plate: George got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one double, while Esteban scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-7. Esteban is also crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Bello, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Lanai was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Molokai might still be hurting after the 28-20 defeat they got from Lanai in their previous matchup on Friday. Can Molokai avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
