Softball Recap: Capitan Takes a Loss

Capitan lost against Mesilla Valley Christian School back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Tigers came up short against the SonBlazers, falling 7-1. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly six runs.

Faith Roper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Capitan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lulu Emerson-Betti, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Capitan and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the SonBlazers beat Capitan by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday.
