Baseball Recap: Roncalli Extends Winning Streak to Three

Roncalli waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Columbus North Bull Dogs by a score of 10-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Collin Ash made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ash was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luke Roeder and Luke Baker did most of the damage at the plate: Roeder scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Baker scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Drew Nelson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Roncalli hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Roncalli's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Columbus North, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roncalli will face off against Ben Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbus North, they will venture away from home to take on East Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
