Baseball Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short

Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Cape Fear Colts, falling 29-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 29-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Douglas Byrd's record is now 0-4. As for Cape Fear, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas Byrd will square off against Lumberton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas Byrd has given up an average of 27.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Cape Fear, they will challenge Jack Britt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jack Britt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
