Basketball Recap: Lightridge Bolts vs. Independence

The Lightridge Bolts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lightridge of the 51-39 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Independence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Grant Kunkle out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Mason, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Lightridge has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lightridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Falcons at 5:45 p.m. on January 31st. Briar Woods is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Independence, they and the Bulldogs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stone Bridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 287 points over their last four matchups.
