Basketball Recap: St. Martin Comes Up Short

St. Martin entered their game against Biloxi on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Yellow Jackets had to suffer through a 50-14 loss at the hands of the Indians. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, the Yellow Jackets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Biloxi's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zaniya Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of the Indians' points. Aubrey Madden was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

St. Martin's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Biloxi, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. St. Martin will take on rival Harrison Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Biloxi is set to face off against their familiar foe West Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Indians 28.8, the Hurricanes 26.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
