Softball Recap: Eight Straight Home Victories for West Branch

There's no place like home for West Branch, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-8 win over the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Fighting Irish on Saturday, they had to take a 8-1 defeat.

Ellie Tucker made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Tucker was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Libbie Davis was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Josie Milliken, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

West Branch's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Branch will head out to square off against Boardman at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, they are taking a road trip to challenge Norwayne at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Fighting Irish surely won't give up without a fight.
