Volleyball Recap: Smith Center Gets the Win

Smith Center lost to Russell back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Redmen walked away with a 2-0 win over the Broncos.

Smith Center easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-12.

Leah McKelvey paced Smith Center's offense, picking up eight kills. McKelvey got some help from Tatumn Rentschler and her nine assists. McKelvey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Smith Center's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Russell, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Smith Center and Russell will both be playing Trego the next time they take the court. The Redmen will host the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Broncos will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
