Baseball Recap: Mt. Eden Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arroyo, Mt. Eden was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the San Leandro Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Monarchs have posted since March 29th.

Mateo Romo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mt. Eden is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Mt. Eden's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Zamora, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Mt. Eden now has a winning record of 12-11. As for San Leandro, they moved to 15-7 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Mt. Eden will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
