Basketball Game Preview: Norfolk Catholic Knights vs. Winnebago Indians

Norfolk Catholic is 9-1 against Winnebago since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Norfolk Catholic Knights will challenge the Winnebago Indians. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.

Last Saturday, Norfolk Catholic came up short against St. Mary's and fell 46-37.

Norfolk Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sidonia Wattier, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards, and Kenzie Janssen, who posted ten points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Janssen a new career-high in points.

Even though they lost, Norfolk Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Winnebago took a blow against Wayne on Friday, falling 66-32.

Norfolk Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Winnebago, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Norfolk Catholic strolled past Winnebago when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 48-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norfolk Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
