Recap: Summit Academy Bears vs. American Heritage Patriots
The Summit Academy Bears entered their tilt with the American Heritage Patriots with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Summit Academy enjoyed a cozy 54-35 win over American Heritage on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Summit Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Avery Backus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten assists. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sierra Johnson, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Summit Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for American Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Summit Academy will finish 2023 at home by hosting Kearns at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Kearns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday. American Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cottonwood at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Cottonwood is ranked 56th, while American Heritage is ranked 81st).
