Football Recap: Randolph Comes Up Short

Randolph extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They had to suffer through an 82-42 loss at the hands of the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-28.

Randolph's loss came despite strong showings from Ryan Engel and Jaylen Junck. Engel gained 94 total yards and four touchdowns, while Junck rushed for 86 yards and one score. Eliah Bermel was in the mix as well, providing the Cardinals with one TD.

As for Bancroft-Rosalie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Bancroft-Rosalie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Browning, who threw for 196 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. The Panthers' leading receiver Braylon Wegner was Browning's top target yet again, picking up 143 receiving yards and three TDs.

Looking ahead, Randolph will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lyons-Decatur Northeast at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bancroft-Rosalie, they are taking a road trip to take on Winside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
