Basketball Recap: Samara Williams Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Oscar Smith

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Salem, Ocean Lakes was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Oscar Smith Tigers by a score of 40-31. That's more bragging rights for the Dolphins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ocean Lakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samara Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. Jasmyn Miller was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

Ocean Lakes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Oscar Smith lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zyonna Ellis, who posted seven points along with 12 rebounds and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Ellis a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Amya Price, who scored nine points and six steals.

The win got Ocean Lakes back to even at 5-5. As for Oscar Smith, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Ocean Lakes has already played their next matchup, a 44-39 victory against Landstown on the 14th. As for Oscar Smith, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-17 loss against Indian River on the 17th.
