Basketball Recap: Hyde Park's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hyde Park can now relate to. They lost to the St. Laurence Vikings on the road by a 67-51 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Vikings are ranked 17th).

Hyde Park moved to 18-16 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for St. Laurence, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-5 record this season.
