Softball Recap: Mukwonago Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

While Mukwonago didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Oconomowoc Raccoons by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 7-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Paeton DeGroot, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two doubles, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Jordan Chatham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Mukwonago's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oconomowoc, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mukwonago will square off against Kettle Moraine at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lasers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Oconomowoc, they will face off against Homestead at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
