Baseball Recap: Schurr Victorious

Schurr let Bell Gardens stack six runs on them in the seventh inning on Friday but luckily Schurr prevailed anyway. The Spartans walked away with a 10-6 win over the Lancers. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Sonny Aleman made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Aleman was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Lu, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Schurr is undefeated when Lu posts two or more runs, but 6-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joseph Hernandez, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Schurr's record now sits at 12-15. As for Bell Gardens, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Schurr will take on San Jacinto at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Bell Gardens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
