Soccer Game Preview: Gaffney vs. Loris

The Gaffney Indians will head out to face off against the Loris Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gaffney's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for ten straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Things were looking good for Gaffney after they put the first goals on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Myrtle Beach who was credited with the victory. The Seahawks got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Gaffney's two. While losing is never fun, Gaffney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Myrtle Beach are ranked 48th).

Gaffney's goal came courtesy of Israel Loaiza, who's now up to three this season.

Loris is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Marlboro County 7-0 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Loris needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Loris' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5. As for Gaffney, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12-1.
