Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Rabun County

Rabun County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Commerce Tigers by a score of 68-56. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Tigers back in January, they had to take a 67-49 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rabun County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayes Free, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 20 points and seven boards. Free's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Huey Blalock was another key player, going 7-for-12 to rack up 20 points and five assists.

Commerce's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Peters, who went 8-for-10 en route to 16 points and six rebounds, and Ty Sorrells, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Sorrells is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Maki Mitchell, who posted nine points and five boards.

Rabun County's record now sits at 22-5. As for Commerce, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Rabun County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-39 victory against Social Circle on the 19th. As for Commerce, they have also already played their next game, a 65-53 win against Dodge County on the 19th.
