Basketball Recap: Aiden Black's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laurel Highlands over Gateway

Laurel Highlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gateway Gators. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Gators are ranked 184th).

Laurel Highlands lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aiden Black, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Antwan Black, who had 14 points.

Laurel Highlands' loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Gateway, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Laurel Highlands will be playing at home against Greater Latrobe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laurel Highlands is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. Gateway has already played their next contest (against Franklin Regional), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
