Softball Recap: Kennedy's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Kennedy scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Highland Bulldogs by a score of 6-5. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Leah Magallanes and Sarah Olague did some serious damage despite the final result: Magallanes went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Olague went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Olague is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Williams, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Kennedy's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cleveland at 3:00 p.m. on March 12th. As for Highland, they will head out to face off against Lancaster at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
