Baseball Recap: Albany Academy for Boys Gets the Win

Albany Academy for Boys owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They skirted past the Troy Flying Horses 1-0. The Cadets were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Flying Horses, so the Cadets were just returning the favor.

Willie Kimbler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Kimbler was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Kimbler wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Staff, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Staff has snagged this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Albany Academy for Boys and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Troy, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
