Baseball Recap: Celina Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kenton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Celina). They put the hurt on the Kenton Wildcats with a sharp 19-2 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.

Wes Greber made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since April 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Nick Steinbrunner was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Celina: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-6 otherwise. Brodee Schulte-Arnold was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Celina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Celina's record is now 5-7. As for Kenton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Celina will head out to take on Elida at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kenton, they will be playing at home against Riverdale at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
