Basketball Game Preview: Grand Valley Mustangs vs. Harding Skippers

Having just played yesterday, the Grand Valley Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Harding Skippers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Harding will be up against a hot Grand Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Grand Valley pulled ahead with a 63-62 photo finish over St. John on Friday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Fighting Herald are ranked 619th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Harding, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 72-62 win over St. John on Thursday.

Grand Valley better keep an eye on Brady Lawson. He was instrumental in Harding's win, putting up 24 points. Yomar Castellano was another key player, posting 14 points.

Harding's record now sits at 8-4. As for Grand Valley, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Grand Valley came up short against Harding in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 72-62. Can Grand Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
