Softball Recap: Memorial's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Memorial had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Western Reserve Blue Devils with a sharp 16-5 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Memorial got a great performance from Bella Ornelas as she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Ornelas a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Ramani Adams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mileena Williams, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Memorial's record is now 9-7. As for Western Reserve, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Memorial has already played their next contest (against McDonald), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Western Reserve, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-10 defeat against McKinley on the 28th.
