Softball Recap: Rockvale Takes a Loss

Rockvale had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the Oakland Patriots by a score of 2-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Oakland this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 9th.

Atiera Stickler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

As for Oakland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Oakland's side, Jazmyne Watkins was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Coming up, Rockvale will take on Warren County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakland, they will square off against Riverdale at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
