Basketball Game Preview: Lummi Blackhawks vs. Neah Bay Red Devils

Lummi hasn't had much luck against Neah Bay recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Lummi Blackhawks will challenge the Neah Bay Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lummi comes in on ten and Neah Bay on five.

Last Thursday, Lummi earned a 58-47 win over Crosspoint Christian.

Meanwhile, Neah Bay humbled Muckleshoot Tribal with a 66-36 victory. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Lummi better keep an eye on Cerise Moss. She was instrumental in Neah Bay's win, going 7-for-16 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Moss continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Qwaapeys 'Q' Greene, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Neah Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Lummi pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.9 points over those games. As for Neah Bay, their record now sits at 19-1.

Lummi suffered a grim 54-29 defeat to Neah Bay when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greene, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 20 points and five steals. Now that Lummi knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
