Basketball Game Preview: Normandy Invaders vs. Rocky River Pirates

Normandy hasn't had much luck against Rocky River recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Normandy Invaders will square off against the Rocky River Pirates at 12:30 p.m. Normandy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Wednesday, Normandy was able to grind out a solid victory over North Olmsted, taking the game 46-37.

Meanwhile, Rocky River beat Lakewood 45-33 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly 12 points.

Rocky River's win came from a few key players Normandy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elizabeth Lang, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and four steals. She has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Claudia Roche, who put up 11 points and six rebounds.

Normandy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Rocky River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Things could have been worse for Normandy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-48 loss to Rocky River in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Normandy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
