Softball Recap: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. Kuna Kavemen
Ridgevue extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 28 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-20 in the process. They fell 10-6 to the Kuna Kavemen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kavemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in April.
As for Kuna, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.
For Kuna's part, Rylee Mangum made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over 6.1 innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave Mangum a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Elle Wemhoff was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Amber Harwood was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
Ridgevue does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kuna, they will head out to face off against Eagle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Kavemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
